You know the moment. You pull open the curtains and throw open the windows on the world you've just walked into. It's a square of foreign in your hotel room; a living, breathing polaroid. Sometimes the views are a thorough disappointment - the hotels I stay in are often mid-range or even cheaper so I'm often lacking in surprise when the view happens to be a wall with air conditioning ducts snaking past. If I'm extra lucky the view may be of a rooftop with someone's laundry flying in the wind. Sometimes the view may not consist of anything in particular but still, somehow, manage to speak so much of place. Occasionally, just occasionally, the views are stunning.
